1.Is the necessity of population census limited to demographic indicators?
The population census provides detailed information about Uzbekistan's population on a specific date, including its size, age, gender, religious and ethnic composition, marital status, education level, housing conditions, economic activity, sources of income, and disability status.

2.What does the census achieve?
The census is used to calculate the distribution of macroeconomic indicators per capita, identify migration trends, and determine the distribution of labor resources. The results serve as a key source of information for regional development and targeted programs for women's and children's health.

3.What is planned for the current year regarding the census?
The population census in Uzbekistan is scheduled for 2025-2026. This is stipulated in Presidential Decree No. PQ-114, signed on March 4, 2024. According to this decree, the Statistics Agency is tasked with organizing the population census in 2025-2026.

Implemented changes and preparatory work:

  1. Throughout 2024, the following activities have been carried out under the roadmap:
    • Created videos, banners, flyers, and brochures to explain the census objectives to the general public.
    • Improved questionnaire forms based on the results of the 2021 trial census and recommendations from international experts.
    • Upgraded the "Population Census" information system based on international best practices.
    • Purchased the "STATA" software package for analyzing results and generating sample tables.
    • Developed an organizational plan for a sample census.

The census itself will take place in 2025-2026, with results prepared and published in 2026-2027.
